The Alban Berg Foundation has presented its ScanRobot® from Viennese company Treventus, which will be used to digitize the historic collection in Alban Berg’s flat.
Foundation President Dr. Maximilian Eiselsberg explained: “The aim is to preserve the historic collection of the Alban Berg Foundation over the long term, both immaterially and naturally also materially. As a result, part of the collection also needs to be comprehensively restored.”
The Alban Berg Foundation is Austria’s first private research institute to digitize its historic collection – approx. 3,500 items (books, music scores, journals) – using a state-of-the-art ScanRobot® developed in Vienna.
The ScanRobot® was created by Vienna mechatronics company Treventus and for over a decade it has been in action around the world in numerous scholarly institutions. Apart from its enormous productivity of approx. 2,500 pages per hour, its automated, self-turning scanning method ensures especially gentle handling of the books. In addition, the digitized data is stored by the software developed by Treventus especially for the robot, and it is subsequently organized as a library.
